Essential info

Part of a Larger, Smarter Family

The Motion Sensor II works with a whole host of other Insteon devices - from sirens to remotes, from switches to keypads, from plugs to switched outlets, Insteon has your Connected Home needs covered.

Put It Just About Anywhere

Simply place on a shelf or countertop, mount with the included arm on a wall, or use the included double-sided tape to mount in the corner of a room or hallway. Power with the included battery or with a micro-USB cable (sold separately).

Peace of Mind

Provide a well-lit path at night, get alerts with unexpected motion, and set timers to turn off lights in unoccupied rooms.

Level-Up Your Connected Home Control

When paired with the Insteon Hub*, you get the flexibility and control to easily add new devices, link devices together in scenes, and set schedules. For even more convenience, use a smart assistant like Amazon Alexa or Google Home to control your Insteon devices with your voice.

It’s OK to Dip Your Toe In

Unlike other traditional “smart” devices that are focused on controlling one device or maybe one room, Insteon is a whole-home solution. If you start small with one room with a few Insteon devices and then decide to “go big” by outfitting your entire home with the Insteon ecosystem, no problem - our solutions can easily scale right alongside you as your Connected Home needs grow.

* Insteon mobile app and Amazon Alexa or Google Home voice control requires a Hub 2 and Connected Home Access.

It works

That’s about all I can say. The documentation is minimal, the 3 octet ID code was hard to find, it uses multiple undocumented “buttons”. It only works in my garage when I have it on USB power

Almost perfect

This sensor is great, easy to install and to tweak. HOWEVER it has one thing that is missing. A timer that you could set so that the sensor switch turns off after a certain amount OF TIME, or not at all. Then, it would be PERFECT

Redirecting security cameras via motion detectors

I use motion sensors to detect wildlife around my home. The detector output is used to energize a relay whose output is connected to my security camera DVR. This connection will set the cameras to the location from which the motion was detected. The DVR is capable of acting upon a total of 16 No or Nc inputs. With the loss of the original Insteon, another manufacturer went bi-the-way. The EZIO8SA was an 8 I.O. Insteon capable module. I have a few of these legacy units still running and have downloaded a relay add-on which has a total of 8 outputs. It would be nice to have an Insteon multi-really module to use for this application. This motion detector works very well but the little flex mounting rod is a poor design.

Motion II Is Great

I purchased 2 of these to replace gen 1 Insteon motion sensors. These are much easier to set up with the external set button and the available temporary motion override is helpful. My only complaints are that my gen 1 sensors worked great outdoors and had a better ball & joint mount that made positioning easier. This model is not designed for outdoor use, but I use it to trigger outdoor spotlights that have indoor insteon on/off switches so hopefully they last. One bonus for future versions or software update possibly would be the ability to override the motion from the app as opposed to the sensor since my sensors are mounted high and require a ladder to disable. But, again these sensors work great and were super easy to setup and install! Highly recommend

Compact, with connection caveat

Newer form factor than older previous motion detectors. Significantly smaller, but detailed instructions are lacking. Had connection issued with my Indigo system until I replaced my older USB Modem Interface with a new 2413U v2.7. Connected right up!
