SmartLabs Adds Tech Industry Veteran Gil Amelio to Board of Directors

Former Apple Computer and National Semiconductor CEO Helps Shape Future of Company

March 31, 2006

IRVINE, Calif. - SmartLabs Inc.TM, the world’s leading authority in home control, today announced the addition of Gil Amelio to the SmartLabs board of directors. As a director, Amelio will assist in further refining the future direction of the company and will leverage his industry connections and expertise in technology to pursue strategic alliances.

Amelio is best known as the former CEO of Apple Computer and National Semiconductor. More recently, Amelio has been a venture capitalist focuding on early-stage startups. He is currently a senior partner at Sienna Ventures and serves as a director of a number of technology companies including AT&T. Amelio is also CEO of Acquicor Technology Inc. (AMEX: AQR.U.), a company he created with two other former Apple executives, Steve Wozniak and Ellen Hancock

“The addition of Gil Amelio, a prominent technology industry veteran, to our board is further confirmation of our leadership in the wireless and wired home control networking market,” said Joe Dada, SmartLabs founder and CEO. “Gil brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight, and his perspective and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to experience rapid market acceptance of our Insteon home control technology.”

“The extremely dynamic home networking market is just beginning to address the needs of the mass consumer,” said Amelio. “SmartLabs is at the forefront of that effort, and all the critical success factors are in place, from thought leadership to sophisticated technology and product design to cutting-edge marketing and distribution. I look forward to helping the company realize its strategic vision.”

SmartLabs, formerly known as Smarthome, announced in January the formation of its new parent company. SmartLabs is divided into three subsidiaries SmartLabs Technology, architects of the Insteon home control technology; SmartLabs Design, product design and development and Smarthome Direct, the retail and online distribution channel. The re-organization and name change more accurately reflects its role as a visionary think tank for future of home networking.
