Located in Irvine, California, Smartlabs Inc. is an established innovator of disruptive IoT consumer products. We seek a dedicated, passionate, Senior Hardware Engineer to join our growing team to bring a new generation of products to market.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer design innovative IoT consumer products. You will work closely with internal cross function teams and outside partners including mechanical, hardware, firmware, software and manufacturing teams, to drive key aspects of product definition, proof of concept design, execution, test and optimization of cost and system from concept through the whole product lifecycle. Some of the things you’ll do
Participate in the conceptual and architectural definition of new products.
Create and improve engineering specifications, work cross-functionally to identify and specify critical performance parameters and error sensitivities.
Hardware liaison with industrial design, mechanical, firmware, software and technology focused engineers, manufacturing partner and quality team.
Build emulator proto-types for electrical design validation, firmware programming and verification testing.
Review and optimize schematics / PCB layout / BOM and drive product performance excellence, reliability, manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Design and support verification testing (DVT) plan and procedures; hardware test and troubleshooting.
Develop measurement methods and equipment that are repeatable, reproducible, and automated as appropriate to enable thorough validation coverage of products on tight development schedules.
Lead for Failure Analysis and reporting, including resolution of issues found in validation testing and troubleshooting.
Work with manufacturing partner, suppliers, and internal quality team to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Analyze and recommend trade-offs among performance, manufacturability, size, schedule and cost.
International travel to manufacturing sites for production validation and issues resolution.
Prepare and communicate technical status, risks and mitigation strategies for ongoing product programs.
Review and approve hardware changes to products and assemblies, responsible for Bill of Materials (BOMs) for all builds from concept to early production.
Electrical Engineering background with +10 or more yrs. related experience.
Experience in digital and analog electronic design for high volume manufacturing.
Experience with schematic, PCB layout and simulation tools.
Detailed knowledge of power supply design and simulation.
Understand regulatory safety and emissions requirements and best practices in consumer electronics.
Experience in Wireless technology.
Strong sense of urgency, high level of self-motivation and dedication, have the ability to work well in a cross-team dynamic and fast paced environment, multitask effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Intermediate skills with MS Word, Outlook and Excel
Eligible to work in USA and able to obtain a China visa.
Work experience with manufacturer based in China.
High volume, low cost consumer electronics experience.
