Home Control Visionary Joins Astute Panel
September 29, 2011
IRVINE, Calif. - Insteon CEO Joe Dada will be a session speaker at Smart Homes 2011, speaking on the panel "How Can We Build a Logical Standards Solution to Make the Market Move Forward." The event takes place October 4-6, 2011 at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Dada's panel will take place on October 6.
Smart Homes 2011 is a three-day event focused on insights into smart home deployment, with an emphasis on driving return on investment (ROI) and ensuring the commercial rational for smart homes is realized. The event is attended by executives from the top European utilities, telecom providers, and appliance manufacturers, as well as the world's leading smart home solutions providers.
Joining Dada in the panel will be Ricco Winther, Director of Sales, Z-Wave Europe; Bob Heile, Chairman, Zigbee Alliance, USA; Steve Leussink, System Architect, Ultra Low Energy (ULE), Dialog Semiconductor, The Netherlands; and Steven De Bruyne, System Manager, KNX Association, Belgium.
"I'm very excited to speak as part of the panel regarding standards," commented Dada. "Our vision is simple - the best standards decision makers are consumers. Too often decision makers are swayed by an idea or a slick presentation, rather than a proven track record with results. Identifying the right standards can certainly propel the idea of smart homes forward."
Dada founded SmartLabs in 1992 as a startup. Shortly thereafter he launched Smarthome.com, becoming one of the world's first ecommerce companies. During the late 1990's, he acquired two product engineering firms, formed SmartLabs Design, and began designing and manufacturing proprietary remote control lighting and related products. Between 2000 and 2005, he led the development of Insteon®, a dual-mesh (RF plus Powerline) networking technology which is now the best selling home area networking technology. Dada is currently on the University of California, Irvine Extension's Sustainable Buildings: Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy advisory board, assisting in the direction and development of the curriculum, marketing and partnership opportunities. Dada holds a bachelor's degree with honors in engineering and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana.
