The New Dual-Band Insteon Keypad Dimmer Has Arrived

June 26, 2013

IRVINE, Calif. - Insteon, manufacturers of the best-selling home automation and control technology, today announced an updated scene control keypad and integrated dimmer. This new keypad features dual-band technology which vastly improves communication and a new 100-270V 50/60Hz compatible power supply.

“With six or eight buttons and the ability to control an entire house of devices, our Insteon Keypads are among the most powerful products in the Insteon line. With the addition of dual-band communication, it’s easy to see how Insteon is hands-down, the most reliable home control technology on the market. This is a great addition to our dual-band product family.” Joe Dada, CEO, Insteon.

The dual-band Insteon Keypad Dimmer can control any hard-wired dimmable load including many dimmable LED fixtures. The addition of a red/green status LED makes programming the device much easier and an enhanced power supply makes it possible to use the Keypad in rough power environments from 100-270VAC at 50/60Hz. And of course, Keypad Dimmer maintains the fantastic feature set of its predecessor, offering customizable keypad buttons, color change kits for the button LED backlights and remote control through the Insteon Hub and mobile applications.

The dual-band Insteon Keypad Dimmer retails for $79.99. For more information, visit www.insteon.com.

With its simple installation and setup process and trustworthy communication, Insteon has become the industry’s premier home control networking technology. Plug-in modules and in-wall devices make it possible to add wireless control to any appliance in a home or business without having to hire a contractor.

With Insteon every networked device talks to each other via radio frequency and/or existing electrical wiring which eliminates the need for costly, custom wiring.

Smarthome™ Introduces Three New RemoteLinc Insteon Products

RemoteLinc 2 - Insteon Wireless Switch; RemoteLinc 2 - Insteon Wireless Keypad, 4 Scene; and RemoteLinc 2 - Insteon Wireless Keypad, 8 Scene

September 1, 2011

IRVINE, Calif. - Smarthome announces the release of three new members to the RemoteLinc line of Insteon wireless controllers - RemoteLinc 2 Switch; RemoteLinc 2 Keypad 4 Scene; and RemoteLinc 2 Keypad 8 Scene. All three products, and their accessories, are currently available for pre-order, and are expected to begin shipping at the end of September.

The RemoteLinc 2 - Insteon Wireless Switch is an easy-to-use wireless remote that allows users to control Insteon dimmers, switches and plug-in or receptacle dimmers. Like a traditional switch, tapping the top paddle turns the lights on and tapping the bottom paddle turns the lights off. The product can also be used as a dimmer by pressing and holding the switch. Additional programming options allow the RemoteLinc 2 - Insteon Wireless Switch to function as a 2-scene controller.

Much like the switch, both the RemoteLinc 2 - Insteon Wireless Keypad, 4-Scene and 8-scene versions allow users to control Insteon dimmers and switches, however in a multi-button keypad. The 4-scene model can control four separate lights (or scenes) with ON/OFF capabilities. The 8-scene model can control eight separate lights (or scenes) with ON/OFF capabilities.

All three RemoteLinc 2 products can be used as a handheld remote control, a tabletop control (when used with the tabletop stand), from the car (when used with the visor clip) or as an additional wall switch, anywhere it is needed in the home, without having to rewire (when mounted in the wall mount bracket).

Each new RemoteLinc 2 is just 2.6 inches high by 1.3 inches wide and communicates to other Insteon products via RF (radio frequency) signals. The products are powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. Based on average usage, the expected battery life between charges is > 6 months, but can easily be recharged using a standard USB Micro-B cable.

More information regarding the RemoteLinc 2 products can be found at www.smarthome.com/remotelinc2, and all Insteon products can be purchased atwww.smarthome.com/insteon

Smarthome™ Introduces New KeypadLinc™ - Insteon® 6-Button Scene Control Keypad with On/Off Switch (Dual-Band)

July 11, 2011

IRVINE, Calif. - Smarthome announces the release of the new KeypadLinc - Insteon 6-Button Scene Control with On/Off Switch (Dual-Band). The product, which supports voltages from 120 to 277V, is a dual-band alternative to the popular KeypadLinc Relay - Insteon 6-Button Scene Control Keypad with On/Off Switch, which has been a popular seller since its launch in 2008.

The new product is a full-featured keypad that can be remotely controlled by powerline and radio frequency (RF) Insteon controllers, and also doubles as an Access Point, relaying RF and powerline signals to other Insteon-compatible devices. The dual-band technology not only increases the reliability of the controller, but for the user's entire Insteon network.

The simple-to-use KeypadLinc is like having three products in one: an in-wall controller, a 20-amp on/off switch and an Insteon Access Point. It can also control any load type including fluorescent lights, fans and motors. With the ability to handle up to 277V, KeypadLinc is the perfect energy saving, wireless controller for commercial building automation systems.

"The new KeypadLinc Switch continues our efforts to provide the best, most reliable home automation network to our customers," commented Laurie Maroni, Vice President of Marketing at Smarthome. "The dual-band technology increases the reliability of the user's entire Insteon network, while the added voltage if 277V expands the applications for the product."

The KeypadLinc - Insteon 6-Button Scene Control Keypad with ON/Off Switch (Dual-Band), which passed stringent certification and beta tests, is currently available for pre-order for $79.99 at Smarthome.com, and is expected to begin shipping in August.

SmartLabs the Leader in Home Automation Products, Announces the Release of I/O LINC - Insteon Keypad Control Kit and I/O Linc - Insteon Rain Sensor Kit

June 11, 2009

IRVINE, Calif. - SmartLabs, Inc. is pleased to announce the latest releases in their line of I/O Linc Insteon Low Voltage / Contact Closure Interface Kits: I/O Linc - Insteon Keypad Control Kit and I/O Linc - Insteon Rain Sensor Kit.

About I/O Linc Insteon Low Voltage / Contact Closure Interface
I/O Linc is a universal Insteon interface with contact closure sensor input and a low voltage / contact closure relay output, monitors and controls any low voltage device. Thanks to several different output relay modes, I/O Linc can easily adapt to different types of devices. "Contact closure and low voltage are used to automate a wide array of home systems and devices," says Laurie Maroni Vice President of Marketing at SmartLabs,"I/O Linc is flexible enough to support each type of home system and affordable enough for several to be placed around the home." For the same price as a single low voltage interface with many inputs and outputs, several I/O Linc modules can be placed around the house in the locations where they are needed.

I/O Linc - Insteon Keypad Control Kit
The I/O Linc - Insteon Keypad Control Kit enhances your Insteon network by giving you the ability to operate Insteon-controlled devices via a numeric code. By entering a numeric code into the keypad, an Insteon signal can be sent to unlock doors for access control (door lock sold separately) and/or initiate lighting scenes using Insteon devices such as Dimmers and SwitchesWire-in/Outlet Modules and/or Plug-in Modules. The keypad can be programmed with 56 individual access codes, each assigned to an authorized individual user or to a group of users.

I/O Linc - Insteon Rain Sensor Kit
Combining the features of I/O Linc and a rain sensor, this kit will allow users to be alerted in the event of excess liquid (rain and/or water) build-up. The rain sensor can be placed anywhere where you would like to detect the accumulation of water. As soon as water starts to collect, the rain sensor will trigger I/O Linc to turn any Insteon controlled lights or appliances on or off, notifying you of the condition. When used in conjunction with other I/O Linc kits, it can be used to trigger sprinklers to automatically shut-off when it rains, saving water and money, or it can be placed near the foundation of your home to help detect detrimental standing water and flooding.
