Reasons to move to the Insteon Director App
All our App development is focused on Director. When we acquired the company, we had to make decisions related to what the path forward would be for Insteon. Based on the older Insteon for Hub (IFH) App being very out of compliance and some of the source code missing, we decided to rebuild Director. There has been a lot of work done on Director since Fall of 2022. Although we have much more to do, we have added support for several existing products such as:
Legacy Insteon Thermostat
Director App does provide other advantages over IFH. For instance, offsets to sunrise/sunset, faster login, the ability to schedule multiple devices at the same time. Please see the table below for other features.
We will continue to improve the user interface through 2024 such as creating full control pages for the keypads (when you select a keypad you will see the keys on the keypad), and many other enhancements.
Eventually the Insteon for Hub (IFH) App will not be available through the Apple and Google store. We encourage you to move over to Director now and provide us with feedback. You can provide us with Director feedback here.
We realize that we have a lot of work ahead to have Director be a first in class App. However, we are committed to making it a great App.
Minimum requirements
Hub 2 model #2245-222 - running firmware version 1018 or greater. If you are running an older Hub 1 (2242-222) you’ll want to upgrade or migrate to Hub 2 in order to use this app.
iOS 11 or greater
Android 7 or greater

What about 3rd party integrations?
Most integrations are not affected. Voice commands will still be supported through Google Home and Amazon Alexa, as well as 3rd party integrations.
Sonos is not planned to be supported in the Director app. For Sonos users you will still be able to create and modify your existing scenes and playlists in the old app.
